A Clothing Support Program for Low-Income Teen Girls (Between 12-18 years old) |

Program description

My Best Friend’s Closet is a youth empowerment program for teenage girls that provides high-quality and on-trend clothing, shoes, and accessories to IN-NEED youth for their school and recreational needs.

During a 90-minute appointment, youth participants are connected with a peer-to-peer volunteer Stylist/ Mentor who will help them select items that suit their unique style and individuality.

Program Criteria

My Best Friend’s Closet clients can be referred by community service agencies, or educational institutions in Calgary and the surrounding area. We are accepting self-referrals for clients who are willing to share how they meet our requirements.

  • Clients are allowed up to two visits in total, with a minimum one year period between appointments.

  • Clients must be between 12 and 18 years old and be experiencing financial barriers.

  • We are committed to creating an environment of inclusion and welcome ALL who identify as women regardless of age, race/ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or physical ability.

Referral Process

You will need to fill out a referral form. Once the referral is processed, we will email the client to book an appointment.

The following options are available for scheduling in-person appointments:

  • Tuesdays at 5:30 pm

  • Saturdays: 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 2:30 pm

Virtual appointments: Available by special request only for clients with disabilities requiring accommodations.

Referral form

We are accepting referrals from agencies, directly from clients, or via family and friends. Non-agency referrals must be able to speak to the need of the client and the barriers they are facing.

Please fill out the form below. Once the referral is processed, we will email a confirmation. We currently have a waitlist and clients will be contacted to book when they reach the top.

Clients requesting their own second appointment after the minimum one year waiting period are required to fill out the form for “Second Appointment Request”.

AGENCY REFERRAL:

We accept appointment requests through local aid agencies and educational institution. Agents may request a second appointment after the mandatory waiting period through this form. For booking a client for an appointment, please fill out the agency referral form.

SELF-REFERRAL:

We also accept self-referral appointments. For booking an appointment for yourself or a family member, please fill out the self-referral form.

Second Appointment Request

Clients may request their second appointment after the one year mandatory waiting period without the support of an agency by filling out our appointment request form.
