Program Description:

Digital Skills for Work & Learning is a no-cost, 8-week, in-person program for women and gender-diverse learners to build their practical digital skills for work, job search, and learning programs.

You know how to use a mouse and keyboard, but applying for a job, starting a course, or entering a workplace can require much more.

  • Learn to join a Zoom meeting.

  • Send a professional email.

  • Upload an assignment.

  • Complete an online timesheet.

  • Organize documents.

  • Work between several applications at once.

This program helps you practice and build digital skills before using them on your own, while exploring your next steps toward your employment and education goals.

What will you learn?

💻 Workplace Tools

  • Navigate multiple applications and windows

  • Basic Excel for data entry, timesheets, and expenses,

  • Organize files and folders

  • Send, receive, and reply to emails

  • Write professional messages

  • Stay safe online

  • Use outlook email and calendar

  • Write and format text in Word

🎓 Online Learning tools

  • Practice using online classrooms like: Google Classroom, Moodle, and Blackboard

  • Access assignments, quizzes, and grades

🎥 ONLINE MeetingS

Learn how to participate effectively in online meetings.

  • Use meeting tools like: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet

  • Setup your microphone, camera, and speakers

  • Use the chatbox

  • Join breakout rooms

🌱 Career & Learning Planning

Explore where you want to go and what can help you get there.

  • Identify employment and learning goals

  • Explore job and education options

  • Strengthen communication

  • Improve your problem-solving skills

Program Eligibility 

Language Skills:

  • Newcomers with a beginner English level (CLB 3 or 4) 

  • English speakers with beginner reading and writing skills (Canadian Grade 6 level or below) 

Requirements:  

  • Low computer and technology skills. Some mouse and keyboard skills. 

  • Future plans to attend a learning program or start a beginner/entry level job. 

  • Able to join all 8 weeks of the program  

  • Self-identifying woman. This program is open to non-binary and gender-diverse people.  

  • This program is for learners facing financial barriers.

Optional Tutorial Support:
9:30 – 10:00 AM
