BASIC DIGITAL SKILLS FOR WOMEN

using your phone and computer safely

Program Description 

Join us to learn technology skills in a friendly group setting. You’ll gain confidence and learn how to use computers and technology to reach your goals. Know how to use technology safely. Meet new friends in your community and become a better learner, problem-solver, and communicator. 

Possible skills learned can include:  

  • setting up and using a computer

  • using a mouse and keyboard

  • staying safe online

  • connecting to internet and wi-fi

  • using technology to talk with friends, family, doctors, teachers 

  • completing online forms

  • accessing community resources 

  • solving simple technology and computer problems

  • creating and accessing accounts

Program Eligibility

Language Skills:

  • Newcomers with a beginner English level (CLB 3 or 4)

  • English speakers with beginner reading and writing skills (Canadian Grade 6 level or below)

Requirements: 

  • Low or no computer and technology skills  

  • Able to join all 10 weeks of the program 

  • Self-identifying woman. This program is open to non-binary and gender-diverse people. 

Spring 2026 Dates

Schedule: 

  • April 21 to June 25, 2026

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00am - 1:00pm  

  • In-person at 6516 1A Street SW, Calgary  

  • No fee to attend, bus tickets available

 

Program Notes: Classroom computers are provided. This program is for learners with low or no computer skills.
