Congratulations to Sonia Okamoto! 

Sonia Okamoto, our amazing My Best Friend’s Closet Program Manager has been awarded the Bhayana Family Foundation Innovation and Creativity Award.

For the past 3 years, The Bhayana Family Foundation Awards have been recognizing the dedicated contributions of front-line agency staff at United Way funded agencies. Sonia was recognized for her excellence in introducing ideas, services or practices in new and imaginative ways.

We will have two programs starting in October 2015! Our pre-employment career planning program, with free childcare, is available to newcomers to Canada.

Fashion Forward 2015 – June 18, 2015

Join us for an evening filled with great fashion, good fun, and most importantly, your help in increasing awareness and raising funds for Making Changes Association. This fabulous event will be held on June 18, 2015 at 5:00pm at LoneStar Mercedes Benz.

You won’t soon forget the fabulous runway show featuring top designers and Calgary’s hottest stylists; use some of their mix-and-match magic to “shop your own closet” at home. There will also be on-trend pop-up shops from Kate Hewko and more so you can find some new treasures and test drive a new look!

In addition to the complimentary drinks and delicious appetizers that you will receive with your ticket, you will also enjoy mini-makeovers, amazing auction items and live entertainment, all hosted by our celebrity special guests.

We encourage you to bring any gently used work attire or accessories you may want to donate with you to the event. Your donations will enter you to win incredible prizes.

Scotiabank Charity Challenge – May 31, 2015

On Sunday, May 31st, 2015, the Making Changes Association is participating in the 2015 Scotiabank Charity Run. To register for the marathon, half marathon, 10km, 5km or Kids run, please click on the link below and follow the instructions on the page ensuring that you select the “Making Changes Association” when indicating which charity you’re fundraising for.

Volunteers Needed for Our Casino and Bingos

We are currently recruiting volunteers for our casino and for our two upcoming bingos. These fundraisers provide an important source of funding for Making Changes. Volunteering at the casino and at bingos is a great way for people to support our organization and to meet other great people. The Casino will be held on June 12th and 13th and our next bingos are on March 7th and March 29. Click here for more details.

The Walk-In Closet's mandate is to empower women by providing knowledge and a selection of work attire for their transition into the workplace.

Making Changes Association is thrilled to announce the opening of our brand new teen program, My Best Friend's Closet, where we provide teenage girls from low-income homes (ages 12-18) with a broad selection of fashionable and functional clothing to meet their back to school and recreational needs.

Donations for the Walk-In Closet and our teen program, My Best Friend's Closet, may be dropped off on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Also on select Saturdays between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. No appointment is necessary for donation drop off.
